Glow Sticks

So I’m going down the street with my girlfriend, walking into work. We’re lucky that way; both of us live kind of near our respective offices, and we can walk into work together. I’ve just had my appraisal and I’m keen to discuss it with her.

“OK,” she says when I’m done telling her the details. “Sounds like it’s going well. The way I see it, what they said is that you’re bright, and…” she pauses.

“And what?” I ask.

“Flexible...you know, pliable” she finally says. “Bright and pliable. And that’s what’s really needed in a young lawyer.”

Bright and pliable. You know what’s bright and pliable? A Glow stick.

Not that I am one of those nutcases who insist that everyone must speak the Queen's English, but I thought those things are called 'glow sticks'.

lol The glow stick analogy reflects some disdain over qualities that they described you with.
